1. Follow us on LinkedIn

Even at this early stage of your academic career, it is useful to think about how others can contribute to your success. While networking might be an unfamiliar concept right now, it is never too early to broaden the base of people who could support your academic career.

If you do not already have a LinkedIn profile, it is a good idea to get one started as you begin your academic career at Ðǿմ«Ã½. Connect with academic staff and other students from both your course and wider area of study.

Look for updates from page to be kept up to date on university news and for information on networking and training events taking place both in-person and online, many of which are free.

Ðǿմ«Ã½ Business School and Ðǿմ«Ã½ Global have their own dedicated LinkedIn pages, which are also worth following.

5. Speak to our Careers and Employability team

While it may be early in your university journey it’s never too soon to think about your future career. Whether you already have a clear pathway in mind, or have absolutely no idea where you want to work, Ðǿմ«Ã½â€™s Careers and Employability team may be able to help.

Please note that although many of these campus-based resources may not currently be available to our Ðǿմ«Ã½ Global collaborative partners, you may still find value in some of the supportive content found via the Careers and Employability Service.  Do remember, though, that your institution's own educational team will offer similar support options to those provided here.

6. PALS YouTube (by Students for Students)

While some of the content available via the channel is Edinburgh-focused, a good number of videos and guidance created by students for students can offer you some interesting perspectives and guidance.  Worth a watch!

All Ðǿմ«Ã½ staff, students and graduates - whether local or global - have access to many resources via Ðǿմ«Ã½'s Startup Studio designed to support you in your entrepreneurial endeavours, including the resources offered via .

µþ¸é°ÕÌýoffers free enterprise support to local and global students, graduates and staff of Ðǿմ«Ã½.  With a mission focussed on equipping users with skills and knowledge to support business ventures from idea to launch, to long-term growth and sustainability and all the challenges in between by offering expert advice and mentorship from BRT Enterprise Advisors, a calendar of free events and workshops (many of these are online), funding-guidance, and opportunities to grow your personal and professional network by connecting with a vibrant community of people and businesses. 

So whether you are a budding entrepreneur or just looking to understand a bit more about innovation and enterprise, Ðǿմ«Ã½'s Startup Studio is a great place to, well, start!

9. Student Benefits

One of the many benefits of being a student is having access to discounts!  To take advantage of the offers available to you via and/or , register with your Ðǿմ«Ã½ email address and verify your status (registering with your Ðǿմ«Ã½ account means many of these resources are available to our Ðǿմ«Ã½ Global students internationally too).

10. Your Ðǿմ«Ã½ journey continues...

As you begin your Ðǿմ«Ã½ journey, you may not even be thinking about the next step!

However, once you have completed your studies, you are still connected to Ðǿմ«Ã½, and we offer a number of services for Ðǿմ«Ã½ Alumni, including networking opportunities through Ðǿմ«Ã½â€™s business pages on LinkedIn and advice and guidance from recent graduates.  Check out our Ðǿմ«Ã½ Alumni & Friends page for further information on how to continue to engage with your university after you have completed your academic journey.
